Before you switch

Questions about
pricing smarter.

For bakers who want clearer prices without turning their whole business into a complicated system.

1

Product fit

Who is Bakeluma for?

Bakeluma is for solo bakers, home bakeries, cottage food businesses, and small bakery teams who sell baked goods and want to stop pricing by feel.

Can I use Bakeluma as a solo baker?

Yes. You can start with one product, see its recorded cost, and decide whether the current selling price makes sense before adding more workflows.

I only sell a few products. Is this worth it?

Usually, yes. One underpriced bestseller can quietly cost more than the time it takes to calculate that product properly.

2

Spreadsheet and setup

I already use a spreadsheet. Why would I need Bakeluma?

Spreadsheets can work at first, but they become fragile when ingredient prices change, formulas get copied, products multiply, or packaging, labor costs, and fixed costs are added inconsistently.

Do I need accounting knowledge?

No. Bakeluma is organized around bakery products, ingredients, and pricing decisions, not accounting jargon.

Do I need to move my whole business over first?

No. The best first step is to price one product. If the result is useful, you can add more products and workflows over time.

3

Pricing confidence

Can Bakeluma show me when a product is priced below breakeven?

Yes. Bakeluma compares the current price with a breakeven point calculated from ingredient, packaging, and any allocated active recurring fixed costs.

Can it help me know when to raise prices?

Yes. When you review a product after ingredient, packaging, payroll, or other active fixed costs change, breakeven and margin visibility make it easier to decide whether it needs a new price.

Will it tell me the exact price I must charge?

Bakeluma gives you a recorded cost breakdown, breakeven price, and margin context. You still choose the final selling price based on your market, brand, and customer expectations.

4

Cost coverage

Can I include labor costs?

Yes. You can record employee wages or other recurring labor costs as fixed costs, and Bakeluma can allocate those active monthly costs across expected sales in amortization and target-margin pricing. It does not currently calculate product-specific labor from hours and hourly rates.

Which costs does Bakeluma currently include?

Bakeluma calculates ingredient and packaging costs. Its amortization and target-margin methods can also allocate active recurring costs, including payroll and overhead entered as fixed costs, across expected monthly sales. Waste is not a dedicated input yet.

What happens when ingredient prices change?

Ingredient changes should flow into product costs, making it clearer which products need review instead of forcing you to rebuild every calculation manually.

5

Plans and trust

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free path is meant to help you price your first products and decide whether Bakeluma fits before you pay.

What happens when I grow?

You can upgrade when you need more products, ongoing pricing updates, team collaboration, or higher-touch support.

Can I use Bakeluma for business decisions?

Bakeluma helps organize and calculate the numbers you enter, but you should still review prices with your own business judgment, taxes, and local requirements in mind.

6

Alternatives

Is Bakeluma a full bakery management system?

Not at the start. Bakeluma is intentionally lighter: pricing confidence first, then more workflow when your bakery actually needs it.

How is Bakeluma different from full bakery management software?

Full bakery management software often covers orders, inventory, customers, invoices, and production workflows. Bakeluma starts lighter: first helping you understand what one product really costs, where the breakeven price is, and whether the current selling price leaves room for profit.
